1. Shade’s Mills Conservation Area Movie Night

Friday, 8:45 p.m. - 10:45 p.m.

One of the greatest pleasures of summer is the chance to watch a movie outdoors, with the breeze in your hair, and the moon shining bright (and hopefully no mosquitos). Head to Shade’s Mills in Cambridge with a blanket or lawn chairs to watch The Avengers this Friday. You can buy snacks at the food concession, and admission is free if you have a pass or $10 flat fee for a vehicle.

Be sure to check the GRCA Facebook page for cancellations due to weather:

2. Baseball Day in Kitchener

Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - evening

Get your inner Brett Lawrie revved up at Baseball Day, starting bright and early at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday in Breithaupt Park. Kitchener Minor Baseball Association is hosting the event which includes everything from a batting cage to a dunk tank where you can dunk a coach for the low, low price of a toonie, to an evening movie with free popcorn. So, make like Jose Bautista and hit a homer.

3. Steven Page

Saturday, 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

The former Barenaked Ladies frontman, will perform at the Gambrel Barn as part of the Elora Festival on Saturday night. I bet you didn’t know though that he has also composed scores for productions at the Stratford Festival, including "Bartholomew Fair" and "Cymbeline". Plus, the Gambrel Barn is a beautiful space for a concert, making this a don’t-miss.

4. Food Truck Mini-Festival

Sunday, 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

What’s better than eating food outside? Eating food from a truck outside in front of Kitchener City Hall, during the first ever food truck mini-festival. There ons of trucks registered, including the Luchador Gourmet Streatery, West of Seoul, Great British Bake and SWAT. Make sure to have a light breakfast Sunday morning!

5. Latin Fusion Trio

Sunday, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

After you've eaten your fill at the food trucks, head over to the Waterloo Region Museum for an afternoon of music on the patio by the Latin Fusion Trio. Suneal and Arun Pal and Neil Douglas are the trio, performing everything from rumba flamenco to Middle Eastern music to jazz. Admission to the museum includes the concert, so if you're feeling curious you can wander around and check out the exhibits.
