New Hamburg Cleaners and Coin Laundry, which has been a well-known part of the small town's streetscape for decades, has been gutted by fire.

Flames erupted at the Peel Street business shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to Waterloo Regional Police.

Firefighters fought back flames for nearly two hours and reports say a small crowd gathered on Peel Street to watch as the fire lit the night sky.

This is the third fire in the New Hamburg area over the past two days.
