Coalition Stop Waterloo LRT abandons legal challenge
Coalition Stop Waterloo LRT has abandoned its legal challenge of the Region of Waterloo's ION light rail plan.
Jay Aissa, the Waterloo businessman and public face of the challenge, vowed in April to press ahead with the legal fight after a judge dismissed the group's attempts to derail the project in March.
"We're pleased that we're bringing this chapter to a conclusion," said Regional Chair Ken Seiling.
"It's one more thing out of the way and we're carrying on with construction and things will get underway shortly," he said.
The announcement by the region marks the end of a protracted legal feud between Aissa and the regional government that's been stewing for three months.
