As you've been hearing Craig Norris announce on The Morning Edition this week, Ice Jam is on in Elora this weekend. The outdoor (yes outdoor!) one-day music festival includes performances by The Sadies, 54-40, Grand Analog, Safe as Houses amd Joni Nehrita. There's an afterparty too!

Pop the Gator presents Marcia Ball, The Royal Crowns & Ginger St. James

Glenn Smith has organized a Pop the Gator tribute show at TheMuseum this weekend, to celebrate the defunct iconic local blues bar. He's got Marcia Ball from Austin, TX, Hamilton's Ginger St. James, performing rock and country, from Hamilton and Toronto rockabilly band The Royal Crowns.  Check out this great video of Marcia Ball playing outdoor pianos below to get you in the mood.

Rock For The Kids

This is a kid-friendly musical event that is also a fundraiser for Sick Kids Hospital. Starting at 3:00 p.m., eleven bands will be performing at Cork Hall on Saturday, including Tory Miller, Lynn Jackson, The Jamie Williams Band, Daddy Long Legs and Christina Leroux. Since it's for kids, there will be face-painting, balloons and silent auction too. Tickets are $10.

Spring Craft Show

It doesn't seem like spring (at least not these past few days) but it's supposed to warm up again Monday–and April's on the way. Get a head start at the Spring Craft Show at the Schwaben Club. There'll be vendors with everything from salt lamps to knitted and crocheted items to homemade catnip toys. There are free Easter photos from Pokey's Pix, plus a goulash lunch starting at noon. Use the Weber St. Banquet Hall entrance.

​SFBC Sub-zero Homebrew Competition

Jane Bond, 5 Pricness Street West, Waterloo

Short Finger Brewing Co. and Block 3 Brewing Co are jointly organizing a tap takeover at the Jane Bond this Sunday, showcasing their finest bubbly beverages. Home brewers have already competed for the best brew in a range of categories and the awards will be presented. The competition winner will get the chance to brew their beer with the professional gear and staff at Block 3. If you're a local craft beer fan, I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
