Kultrun World Music Festival

Waterloo Public Square, 75 King St. S, Waterloo, also alternate venues

Get a taste of some of the best music from around the globe at the Kultrun World Music Festival in Uptown Waterloo this weekend. Here's who you can catch in action: Rapper Vox Sambou, who hails from Haiti, or Shauit's reggae/dancehall stylings. Or maybe you're in the mood for Latin jazz by El Gremio or Nii Addico's Ghanian beats. Plus, there will be plenty of food, as well as crafts vendors and dance performances.

44th International Sketch Crawl

Saturday, July 12 - 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The concession stand at Waterloo Park

Join artists all across the globe taking part in the 44th International Sketch Crawl by meeting up with the K-W Urban Sketchers on Saturday. The idea is to record what you see in your notebook throughout the day, whether with watercolour, pencil, crayon, pen or charcoal.

Concert in the Garden

7:30 - 8:30 p.m., Sunday July 13

Dorothy Elliot Gazebo, Rockway Gardens, 7 Floral Crescent, Kitchener

Wind up your weekend with an outdoor jazz concert at the beautiful Rockway Gardens in Kitchener. The Paul Mitchell Group plays old-time jazz, from Louis Armstrong and New Orleans classics to Fats Waller. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, and while the concert is free, donations are appreciated.

Cruising on King

Friday, 3:00 - 10:00 p.m.

King Street West, Kitchener

Hard tops and spoilers and chrome, oh my! This annual event revs its engines with a show and shine event in Victoria Park from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Then all those shiny cars parade down king street starting at 7:00 p.m. After the parade there's the car show and performances by Lulu's Roadhouse Band at City Hall from 8:00 - 10:00 p.m.

FIFA World Cup Final Viewing Parties

Sunday, July 12, 3:00 p.m.

  • Guelph Street Party  - Head to Market Square at 1 Carden Street for an outdoor viewing party to catch Germany take on Argentina in the world cup finals. Bring your own lawn chair.
  • Kitchener Portuguese Club - 1548 Fischer-Hallman Road E. Even though Portugal is out of the final, the Kitchener Portuguese Club isn't letting a small detail like that get in the way of a soccer party.
  • Concordia Club  - Germany fans should head to the Concordia Club starting at 2 p.m. where the game will be showing in the Main Hall, plus there will be plenty to eat and drink as you cheer on the German side.
