Rock the Mill '14

11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16

Riverside Park, 49 King St. West, Cambridge

Cambridge's annual free youth music festival is back, featuring 13 bands on the main stage as well as a complete day of music in the acoustic tent. Ontario hardcore band Liferuiner headlines the main stage at 9:15 p.m. Plus, get a new t-shirt from one of the vendors or munch on a tasty snack from one of the food trucks.


11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 17

Victoria Park, Kitchener

Kidspark is a jam-packed day of events for kids including a rock-climbing wall, inflatable games and performances by Ultramutts and Erick Traplin. Families are encouraged to bring water bottles which can be refilled at the Waterloo Region Water Wagon, and are welcome to bring picnic lunches too. Or families can check out the selection of food trucks for yummy eats. 

Family Fun Day

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16

50 Young Street West, Waterloo Park, Waterloo

This free morning event takes place at picnic areas 1 and 2 in Waterloo park. Kids can get their faces painted, explore obstacle courses or watch jugglers. 

Bats are Fun: A Program for Kids

7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., Saturday, August 16

Shade's Mills Conservation Area, 450 Avenue Road, Cambridge

This free program will help kids explore the fascinating world of bats with a fun bat detection hike, a bat kite and even games. The admission is free, but kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Signature Premier Performance

8:30 p.m., Friday, August 15

Kitchener City Hall

This musical performance features the Euphonopen, a pen that creates music when it is used to write, accompanied by an improvisational choir and live video. Signature is presented by Open Ears Festival and Inter Arts Matrix. While you're there, don't forget to visit the last night art market of summer, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
