Afro Festival

12:00 - 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 26

100 Westmount Road North entrance, Waterloo Park, Waterloo

Dance, sing and eat the day away in Waterloo Park for Afro Festival on Saturday. Fest organizers expect as many as 8,000 people to come and celebrate. There's also a huge community component, with many groups and agencies present to share their services. Don't forget to check out all the vendors or take a moment to listen to a skilled storyteller. 

The Adventurers Guild board games cafe

11:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26 and 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m., Sunday, July 27

36 Ontario Street N., Kitchener

Kitchener's got a brand new board games cafe, The Adventurers Guild, where you can while the hours away playing Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride or Monopoly while munching on a Donkey Kong sandwich. Don't forget to say hi to Bruce the Unicorn, who gave his life in protection of the guild.  Fear not, Waterloo residents, as you too will shortly get a board games cafe with a huge selection on Weber St. N., called Games on Tap. ​Lacemaking Talk and Tour

Guelph Civic Museum, 52 Norfolk Street, Guelph

The Guelph Museum is hosting 'The Art of The Lacemaker' exhibition and holding special Sunday events to unravel the threads of lacemaking. Join guest curator Joyce Dawson for a tour of the exhibit, then relax over tea while listening to talk by a lace expert. Nancy Pye will be talking this Sunday, about searching for vintage and antique lace. 

​Kitchener Counter Culture Weekend

Kitchener City Hall, King Street West

Boxing under the bright Friday night lights of city hall? Check. A motorcycle rally featuring hundreds of riders from across North America? Check. Get your local mobile food fix on the Food Truck Fare on Saturday. You'll find everything from crepes to meatballs, plus a selection of craft beer.
