1. Waterloo Busker Carnival

Thursday - Sunday in Waterloo, Various locations

The Busker Carnival is celebrating its 25th anniversary and the whole kaboodle kicks off Thursday with a free concert by Steven Page in Waterloo Public Square at 6:15 p.m.  Plus check out a fantastic list of performers, including stuntman Reuben DotDotDot, acrobats Les Vitamens, Pogo Dudes, Sharon from Canada & Tallulah, Alakazam "The Human Knot", Daniel Forlano and Checkerboard Guy, who appeared at the very first Busker Carnival.


2. Movie Night Under The StarsHotel Transylvania

Friday at 127 Victoria St. South, Kitchener

The Independent Living Centre is hosting a whole night of fun activities for the family. The group will screen Hotel Transylvania, but there’s also music by Le Bon Fi, clowns, snacks, face painting and a raffle. Bring lawnchairs!

3. LINK Picnic Festival 

Saturday - Sunday at Victoria Park in Kitchener

Time to get out your dancing shoes and your fancy feathers for the LINK Picnic festival, celebrating African and Caribbean culture. There will be drumming, steelpan and dance workshops, the Carnival parade on Sunday, musical perfomances from soca to jazz to calypso and  — because no cultural celebration is complete without food — heaps of yummy nibbles to snack on. http://www.linkpicnicfestival.com/ 

4. Comedian Tim Nutt

Saturday at Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts

Tim Nutt has performed at Just For Laughs in Montreal and Toronto, as well as in the comedy festival’s cross-country tour, at the St. John’s Comedy Festival, has appeared on The Debaters and took part in the CBC’s Stand Up in Kandahar, a comedy special filmed at Kandahar Air Field in Afghanistan. The long-haired comedian will be bringing his jokes to Kitchener on Saturday night for a gig at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts.

5. CJFL Predators home opener

Saturday at Wilfrid Laurier University

The Predators, of the Canadian Junior Football League, play their home opener Saturday against The Burlington Braves. The gridiron action starts at 7:30 p.m. at Knight-Newbrough Field. http://predatorsfootball.ca/
