For the third time in two months, police are investigating the release of mink from a southwestern Ontario farm.

Wellington County OPP say that sometime between late Thursday night and early Friday morning, the suspect or suspects broke into a farm located on Jones Baseline near Guelph. About 300 mink were released, according to police.

The break-in follows two similar incidents in recent months. Earlier in July, 6,800 mink were released from a farm near St. Marys. About a month earlier, 1,600 mink were released from a neighbouring farm.

No suspect has been identified in any of the cases, but some farmers believe the break-ins are the work of people trying to shut them down.

The Canada Mink Breeders Association is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved.
