3 new schools announced for Waterloo Region
Provincial funding will also renovate 2 Catholic schools
Waterloo Region will be getting two new elementary schools and a new French secondary school thanks to funding from the provincial government announced Friday morning in a joint press conference with Education Minister Liz Sandals and Kitchener Centre MPP John Milloy.
One new public elementary schools will be built in Waterloo's Vista Hills neighbourhood and a second will be built in Elmira.
The French secondary school will be built in Waterloo and will be part of the central southwest Ontario French public school board, Conseil Scolaire Viamonde.
Funding was also announced for renovations at two Waterloo Catholic District school board schools, Holy Spirit and St. Anne Catholic Elementary Schools, both in Cambridge.
An initial news release didn't specify how much money the province will spend on the new schools and renovations. The projects were also touted by the province as a way to provide local construction jobs.
