Ranching is not an easy way of life and unless you're born into it, it's not something many young people are drawn to.
To help support young ranchers, the Canadian Cattlemen's Association has created a mentorship program.
This year, the only participant from B.C. is from Kamloops.
Ryan Scorgie is a lawyer who ranches on the side.
He and his husband Percy Folkard run about 70 cows on their small ranch on Barnhartvale Road.
