One of Canada's leading high-tech firms has set up its headquarters in Edmonton.

Intuit Canada, which developed the software programs Quicktax and Quicken, unveiled its new facility Wednesday. Bruce Johnson, president and CEO, says Edmonton is an ideal place for the company's operations.

"There's a huge university churning out really good candidates," says Johnson. "Cost of living is another factor and it's a good place to raise a family."

Johnson says Intuit has 100 employees working in a call centre, while 200 others are engaged in software engineering and sales. He says the company aims to hire another 150 employees as it tries to change the way people manage their personal and business finances.
