This is a first for the CBC - a fully digital station that will deliver the best of the CBC, and the most up-to-date news coverage, right to your desktop, your tablet or your handheld device using the most sophisticated tools and methods available (See more on our unique design here). No matter where you are, we will be there with the information you want and need to manage your life, be part of your community and understand your city.

Our team's promise to you is to deliver the things you expect from the CBC. We will cover stories as they break and develop, and go beyond that to provide coverage that gives you context, and a better understanding of the events that matter to you. Whether it's happening at city hall or around the corner in your neighborhood, you will find it here. Of course, the CBC is also a national service, one that offers an enormous range of content and programs - and you'll be able to find it through this digital service too.

As part of the innovative spirit of CBC's first digital service, we also will bring you the best of Hamilton's dynamic blogosphere. We want to be your trusted guide to the best writing by bloggers every day - whether it's provocative opinions about what's happening at city hall or the latest tips on where to dine.

And we want to be part of the conversation in Hamilton. That conversation - about the news, about issues, about your lives - takes place in coffee shops, on the street, in your homes and on Twitter. It will be a vibrant, live part of our service that you can follow and join.

We hope that conversation will include what you think of our new digital service. We are launching this as a beta site - meaning it's a work in progress, and you have a say in where it goes next. We're anxious to hear your opinions, ideas on how we can improve our service and suggestions about what we need to do better.

This is an exciting moment for us at the CBC. We have made a commitment to Canadians to expand our local service, to give more people the CBC where they live. The digital service we are launching in Hamilton will be a model for that expansion. It's future-focused - much like the city that we are so excited to now be part of.
