The city of Hamilton is effectively on vacation Monday with the majority of businesses and city services taking the day off to enjoy the statutory holiday.
The grocery, beer and liquor stores are shut down.
So are banks, government offices and libraries.
There's no shopping at either Jackson Square or Limeridge Mall.
You can get a donut and a double-double, however, in Jackson Square: Tim Hortons is open, as is Country Style.
You can also see a movie. The theatre at Jackson Square is open. So too are the Westdale Theatre and SilverCity cinemas in Stoney Creek and Ancaster, respectively.
There's no mail delivery and garbage pickup is pushed back a day all week in Hamilton. Pick up will occur on the day after all regularly scheduled collection days. Visit www.hamilton.ca/calendar for more info.

Garbage, green bin and recycling pick-up will not be running Monday.
HSR buses will be running on Sunday/Holiday schedules.
DARTS is operating normally today.
All recreation centres and arena are closed as are all civic museums.
