Disney TV characters Phineas and Ferb stop in Hamilton for a trio of musical shows for children on Dec. 29 at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Sunday Dec. 30:
Salute to Vienna
Patterned after Vienna’s Neujahrskonzert, Salute to Vienna is a festive New Year’s concert featuring a new cast of more than 75 musicians, European singers, and dancers in beautiful costumes. The 2:30 p.m. show is a light-hearted blend of popular Strauss waltzes, polkas and famous operetta excerpts from Die Fledermaus to The Merry Widow. The cast includes the Strauss Symphony of Canada with Vienna's Alexander Steinitz conducting, as well as soprano Elena Dediu, tenor Aleandru Badea, and Austria's Europaballet.

St. Catharines band Alexisonfire wraps up its 2012 world farewell tour with a 7:30 p.m. show in Hamilton on Dec. 30. The opening band is Moneen. "For our last show ever, we thought it would be nice to bring it closer to where we grew up," says guitarist and vocalist, Wade MacNeil. "Hamilton is where George calls home, it’s where I was born, and it’s where we have played countless, amazing shows over the years. This show will be a celebration of the last 10 years of our music and growing up together. I can’t think of a better way to end the tour."

Caribbean New Year's Eve Ball
The Joint Caribbean Committee of Halton/Hamilton-Wentworth is throwing a party to ring in 2013. Tickets for the Caribbean New Year's Eve Ball are $80 each in advance. Doors open for cocktails at 6:30, followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. and dancing. Besides a DJ, the Stepping Stone Band will play the party. A formal dress code will be strictly enforced.
