Hamilton Children's Museum

The Hamilton Children's Museum is hosting their annual Blue Year's Eve: a family friendly party with a blue tropical theme. Games, crafts, refreshments and an early-bird countdown at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. means everybody can join in on the fun.

Time: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Cost: $1.50 per adult. $3.50 per child. $8.00 per family.

Burlington's Central Park

Bundle up for a full evening of fun at Central Park in Burlington. Free skating at the rink, an outdoor screening of E.T. plus an early-bird countdown at 10 p.m. followed by a fireworks display. Pets are not permitted.

Time: 6 pm. - 10 p.m.

For romantics

Renaissance Hall

Indulge in dinner and dancing at Renaissance Hall's New Year's Eve celebration. Enjoy a three-course meal, full bar service, dancefloor and even a sundae bar before ringing in the New Year at midnight.

Caribbean Ball

Dress to the nines for this dress-code-enforced even at the Hamilton Convention Centre. Dinner, dancing, drinks and live entertainment will make for an unforgettable New Year.

Take your pick of your favourite bar, club or pub. Almost every venue in Hamilton is ringing in the New Year. The Dirty Dog Saloon will be spinning country and rock hits and serving a champagne toast at midnight followed by appetizers. Viva nightclub will be playing house and top 40 mixes with a balloon drop at midnight and complimentary party favours. Find your favourite watering hole and call ahead for tickets and times.

Prefer to stay in and cuddle up on the couch? You're not alone. Luckily, there's plenty of festive options to choose from. Tune in to CBC beginning at 7 p.m. with the This Hour Has 22 Minutes Holiday Special, followed by the Royal Canadian Air Farce New Year's Eve Special at 8 p.m. Ron James New Year's Eve airs at 9 p.m. George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight Tonight wraps up 2012 at 11:30 p.m.
