The Hamilton Poetry Centre presents poet Maureen Hynes and opening reader Donna McMurdo on Thursday, Feb. 28.

Poetry editor for Our Times magazine and an award winning poet, Hynes will be reading from her book Marrow, Willow as well as from more recent work.

Hynes’ book, Rough Skin, won the League of Canadian Poets’ Gerald Lampert Award for best first book of poetry by a Canadian. She has also published Harm’s Way (Brick Books), and Marrow, Willow (Pedlar Press).

A past winner of England’s Petra Kenney Award, her work has been included in Best Canadian Poems 2010 and listed for Best Canadian Poems 2011.

The reading begins at 7:30 p.m. at Bryan Prince Bookseller, located at 1060 King Street West in Hamilton.  Admission is free.
