The Women's Housing Planning Collaborative is presenting a March 7 conference entitled, "WhyGender? Empowering Women in the Fight Against Homelessness."

The event is a day-long discussion of how and why gender perspectives should be used as a tool in providing housing and dealing with homelessness.

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, at the Waterfront Banquet and Conference Centre, 555 Bay Street North, in Hamilton.

Guest speakers include Beth Jordan of Adobe Consulting and Jacquie Dale of the Native Women's Centre. Representatives of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. and Status of Women Hamilton will also be introducing a new film, Status Quo: The State of Feminism in Canada.
