Next to Normal
Hammer Entertainment is tackling mental health issues head-on in their new performance, Next to Normal.
"This is something we felt needed to be talked about," said Jason Dick, the artistic director of Hammer Entertainment.
Next to Normal tells the story of Diana Goodman (played by Stacey Milford) a suburban housewife who is struggling with bipolar disorder coupled with hallucinations that stem from a trauma in her life, sixteen years earlier.
The play deals with the strain mental illness can place on a family, issues of medication and even delves into shock therapy and suicide.
Next to Normal runs from Oct. 19 to Oct. 27 at the Citadel Theatre. For more information, visit Hammerentertainment.ca
