A tanker trailer collision in Flamborough sent five people to hospital Monday night.
The trailer and two passenger vehicles collided on Highway 6 North, just north of Freelton Road.
Firefighting crews from the Hamilton Fire Department were dispatched to the accident at 8:52 p.m.
Firefighters had to pull three people from one of the vehicles. A total of five people were transported to area hospitals with undetermined injuries, fire officials say. The driver of the tanker truck wasn't injured.
The accident caused leaks involving diesel fuel and liquid fertilizer that was being transported in the tanker truck. Firefighting crews contained both leaks to the immediate area, officials say.
The Ministry of the Environment was also called to the scene to conduct an assessment of the spill.
OPP officers are now conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident.
