Summer, the garden and the wonder of nature. Today you can read Jesse Senko's discovery of scape.

At first glance they look like garlic cloves, but they're actually about the size of a pea. They're "bulbils" or the little cloves that form in the flower pod if you don't snap the scape off of your garlic. Read more at Crackers: Garlic Flowers.

This video is just a lot of fun from Sweet Ice, the gals who make snow cones. It played on a continuous loop at CBC Hamilton during Art Crawl. Watch it. It will make you smile.

And on a more serious note, Brian Henley writes about July 1953. It was a difficult time as Local 879 of the General Truckers Union went on strike and pickets attempted to shut down trucking from Hamilton to Windsor.
