Investigators with the province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the arrest of a woman in the parking lot of Burlington Mall on Sept. 14.

According to the police watchdog, Halton Regional Police Service officers in plain clothing located a 52-year-old woman around 2:00 p.m. in the parking lot in front of the Canadian Tire store, where she was arrested.

According to the SIU, the woman suffered a serious injury.

Jason Gennaro, SIU communications officer, says the Burlington woman was brought to hospital where she was treated and released.

According to Gennaro, the SIU has designated one subject officer and four witness officers.

Investigators believe there may have been many people who saw what happened.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also asking anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.

The SIU is an arm's length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
