Rain is coming to southwestern Ontario Friday night and Hamilton is not exempt. Environment Canada issued a special weather statement, warning that rain may fall heavily at times and could amount to a total of 25 to 40 mm of rain.

The rain is forecast to persist into Saturday.

Neighbouring areas also affected include Brantford, Burlington and Haldimand County.

Environment Canada says the rain is associated with "a developing low pressure system" crossing the lower Great Lakes.

Rain starts Friday after midnight. Saturday is windy with 10 to 20 mm, and southwest winds at 30 km/h gusting to 50 km/h with a high of 10 C.
