Hamilton police are investigating after two pedestrians were struck on Forsyth Avenue North this morning, near McMaster Medical Centre.
Police say that just before 7:25 a.m. a 72-year-old man and a 58-year-old man were crossing University Avenue just west of Forsyth Avenue South. "While inside the pedestrian crosswalk, they were struck by a motor vehicle," a police news release reads. "The BMW sedan was being driven by a 60-year-old Hamilton man."
The 72-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other man sustained only minor injuries.
"The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police," the news release reads.
Police say speed and alcohol are not being considered factors in the collision, though investigators are "considering environmental conditions." It rained throughout Hamilton Friday morning.
The identity of the 72-year-old pedestrian is not being released until his family has been notified, police say.
