A man wanted for attempted murder after a woman was attacked with a knife and seriously injured in a Niagara Park, police say, has turned himself in.

On Monday, police were called to Chippawa Boat Ramp Park just after 12:30 p.m., near Lyons Creek Road and Sodom Road in Chippawa, where a woman was attacked with a knife and left seriously injured.

According to police, the attack was not random as the man and woman had known each other.

The woman was airlifted to an out-of-town hospital for treatment.

The 27-year-old Niagara Falls man turned himself in to police on Tuesday and will appear in court today. He has been charged with attempted murder.
