Woman stabbed and sexually assaulted in Hamilton
Hamilton police are looking for a suspect after a woman was stabbed and sexually assaulted in the city's west end early Saturday morning.
A woman was walking westbound alone on King Street West in the area of Paradise and Longwood Road around 2:20 a.m., said Staff Sgt. Mike Cunliffe of Hamilton Police Service.
A man attacked her from behind, when he "stabbed her and grabbed her sexually," Cunliffe said.
The victim managed to break free and the suspect fled eastbound on King Street. The woman was taken to hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.
The man is described as:
- a white male in his 20s
- about six feet tall
- having short dark hair
- having a tan or a sunburn
Cunlife said that Hamilton Police are reminding the public to be aware of their surroundings to ensure their safety.
The ACTION team, the patrol unit and the sexual assault unit are investigating.
