For most elementary students in Hamilton, Thursday is the last day of the school year.

And while some students (and their parents) will be saying so long to pencils, books, teachers and their occasional dirty looks, others will take pause for reflection to think about the unsung heroes of the education.

Take Hamilton's crossing guards, for example, those 250 men and women who wear the orange and yellow and usher kids safely across city streets. And don't forget the custodians who clean up after after messy kids all year long.

So we ask: Who were your unsung heroes — teachers, support staff, volunteers, helpful friends or neighbours — this school year? Tell us on Twitter (@cbchamilton), on our Facebook page, by email (hamilton@cbc.ca) or in the comments box. We'll post some of the responses in the field below.
