A woman in Hamilton was assaulted in a suspected hate crime after a man insulted her choice of World Cup soccer teams, Hamilton police said Thursday.
The attack took place June 16, when the suspect pulled up next to the victim, who was walking down the sidewalk at Bell and Central Avenues. He made derogatory remarks about her soccer jersey and punched her in the face before driving away.
He is described as a white male in his early 20s, around 6’ tall and 180 pounds, with tanned skin and dark short spikey hair. He was driving a car “similar to a black Mazda 3.”
