Two people were rushed to hospital early Wednesday with life threatening injures after a crash in Stoney Creek.
Around 12:44 a.m., a single vehicle was going eastbound on North Service Road from Fifty Road when the driver lost control and it spun off the roadway, police say.
The car struck a barrier fence and a guard rail before coming to a stop in the ditch between North Service Road and the QEW Niagara lanes.
Hamilton firefighters pulled the 46-year-old male driver and his 39-year-old female passenger from the wreck. They were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but have since been upgraded to stable condition, police say.
Officers are still investigating. Alcohol was not a factor, police say.
Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to call 905-546-4753.
