A late-night trip to a McDonald's drive-thru in Hamilton has resulted in an impaired-driving charge for 22-year-old Mississauga man.
Police received a report around 3 a.m. on Saturday about a suspected impaired driver in the McDonald's drive-thru at the intersection of Dundurn Street South and Main Street West.
"The staff at the restaurant called us to tell us they believed there to be an impaired driver at the drive-thru," said Terri-Lynn Collings, a spokesperson for Hamilton Police Services.
The driver was still in the restaurant's parking lot when police reached the scene. Officers arrested him and took him to a station.
A breathalyzer test revealed his blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
