Police say a driver rear-ended another vehicle, but no one was injured in the collision.
Officers arrested the driver, who reportedly showed signs of impairment, and took him to the station for a breath test.
Police say he blew three times over the legal blood-alcohol limit.
Later on, investigators discovered the suspect had been refused service at an east Hamilton LCBO not long before the crash.
A 30-year-old Stoney Creek man was charged with impaired driving and released on a promise to appear in court.
