The severe thunderstorm watch issued for the city of Hamilton on Monday afternoon has been lifted.
Environment Canada reported showers and thunderstorms with a "risk of a severe thunderstorm" on Monday afternoon.
There are power outages in Ancaster and parts of Flamborough. About 1,800 homes are without power in Ancaster just south of Jerseyville Road, and Hydro One crews are on scene.
Another 523 homes are without power in the Carlisle area. Crews are also on scene there.
Horizon Utilities had been experiencing short power outages around Hamilton, each lasting about 30 seconds, said spokesperson Sharon Nease.
The outages "appear to have been caused by a lightning storm," she said.
