There has been a rash of break and enters across Hamilton in the past few days, police say.

The first took place Thursday evening when a suspect broke into an apartment near Melvin Ave and Adair Ave N. The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

No one was at home during the break and enter, which took place sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Then early Friday morning, two more break and enters took place.

Around 1:30 a.m. suspects smashed the glass door of a store on South Service Rd. and Teal Ave. Police say the suspects entered and stole hand tools. Though the alarm system was set off and police responded to the scene, the suspects had already fled. Police continue to investigate.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Hamilton man in relation to several car break and enters near James St. S and Bold St. Around 3:30 in the morning police were alerted to a man riffling through cars in an underground parking garage. They located the suspect nearby and found he was in possession of stolen items from many of the entered cars.

A man has been charged with break and enter, breach of probation and obstructing police.

Police continue to investigate, and say there may have been more cars broken into that have yet to be reported.
