A 50-year-old woman refused to let go of her purse despite being beaten during a mugging attempt in Hamilton Tuesday night.
Around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, the woman was walking near Fennell Ave. E. and Glenford Ave. when a female stranger came up to her from behind and shoved her to the ground.
According to police, the suspect then began to punch and kick the victim and attempted to grab her purse, but the victim held on tight. A witness in a nearby building started yelling and the suspect ran away.
The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Police are seeking a white female in her late teens or early 20s, described as being five-foot seven-inches tall with a heavy build and dark hair. She was wearing a green hoodie or jacket and grey sweatpants.
