Police searching for suspect in east end stabbing
Hamilton police are searching for a man wanted for attempted murder in connection with a stabbing that took place in the city's east end early Saturday.
Around 4 a.m. that morning, a female 911 caller pointed police to a man who had been stabbed.
When officers arrived at 18 Centennial Parkway S., they found Charles Jankevicius, 22, who was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The woman who called police was nowhere to be found.
Police have obtained an arrest warrant for attempted murder and breach of probation for 28-year-old Richard Jessop of Hamilton. Police say the two knew each other.
According to a media release, Jankevicius is presently in intensive care at Hamilton General Hospital in serious condition. Early Saturday, police had described his injuries as non-life threatening.
Det. Sgt. Matt Kavanagh, who is in charge of the case, could not be reached Sunday to comment.
Jessop is described as white, around six foot five inches tall and about 195 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes. Police say Jessop should be considered dangerous.
Members of the public with any information on this case are being asked to call Sgt. Paul Hamilton at 905 546 3825.
