Police are searching for a 41-year-old man convicted of hostage taking, who has gone missing from a halfway house in downtown Hamilton.
Jason Boyd failed to return to the 94 York Boulevard Wednesday evening, the halfway house where he was serving a two-year and nine-month sentence for holdinga baby boy hostage in 2009.
Police have issued a nation-wide warrant for Boyd’s arrest.
Boyd is described as 5 feet 9 inches and 180 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.
He often wears prescription eyeglasses and has been known to ride a grey bicycle through downtown Hamilton, police say. Based on his past offenses, police anticipate that Boyd could be armed and dangerous, said Detective Constable Brett Anderson of the repeat offender parole enforcement (ROPE) squad.
Anderson said anyone who sees Boyd should use caution and contact the police. If you have any information, contact the Provincial ROPE Squad at: (416) 808-5900, tollfree at 1-866-870-ROPE (7673), Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) or call 9-1-1.
