Hamilton police have busted a "problematic web of drug activity" on Wellington Street South that brought community members such relief that they came out and applauded the officers.
Police have charged two men and one woman with drug-related offences after raiding "a pocket of troublesome apartments" at 130 Wellington St. S., Hamilton Police Service said in a media release Friday.
As officers led the suspects out of the house, "members of the community came forward, publicly applauding the efforts of the investigators, and further celebrating their neighbourhood," the release said.
Officers went to the apartments just before 4 p.m. on Aug. 29, responding to "a rash of citizen complaints" about the property, police said.
Members of the vice and drug unit, along with members of three other units, used a search warrant to enter the apartments. With that, "a once problematic web of drug activity was extinguished," police say.
Three people — aged 48, 55 and 51 — are charged with cocaine-related offences.
