Police on horses spot beer in car of suspected impaired driver
Police officers on horseback looked down and saw a beer can on the dashboard of a vehicle, and that’s how a Durham man ended up getting charged with impaired driving.
A concerned citizen flagged down two mounted patrol officers around 2:20 a.m. on May 3, reporting a suspected impaired driver around George and Hess streets.
The officers, who were riding the horses Lincoln and Barron, found the driver and saw the beer can on the dashboard. They situated themselves around the vehicle to stop the driver, who police say was visibly impaired.
A 41-year-old Durham man is charged with impaired driving.
