Police in Guelph have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal Hamilton stabbing.

On Sunday, Hamilton police responded to a call at a house on Cherrywood Drive in Stoney Creek. They found the victim, a 36-year-old woman, alone with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, a 35-year-old male, was the victim's common-law partner. The couple had a child together, police say.

The suspect is expected to make his first appearance in court on Monday morning.
