31-year-old Hamilton woman faces charges in the assault
A 31-year-old Hamilton woman faces multiple charges after police officer was kicked in the face and spat on during an arrest.
Police were conducting an investigation near a house on Highway 8 in Stoney Creek. According to police, a car pulled into the driveway, with its driver exhibiting signs of impairment.
Officers then put him under arrest. During the interaction, a female passenger, who, was also intoxicated, became belligerent with the officers and, according to police, kicked one in the face, spat at him and attempted to bite his finger.
The officer was able to overpower his assailant and take her into custody along with the driver.
A 55-year-old man faces an impaired driving charge, while the passenger was charged with two counts of assaulting police and one count of obstructing police.
The officer did not sustain serious injuries, police said.
