A midday street race Wednesday on the Mountain damaged five cars, police say.

Around 2:45 p.m., police were called to Fennell Avenue between Garth Street and West 5th about a two-vehicle, head-on collision.

A black Acura and a blue Honda were street racing going east on Fennell Avenue, police say. The Honda was driving closest to the curb when the driver lost control and spun into the westbound lane and collided with a car.

The debris from the collision damaged three other cars in the area. The people in the Acura stayed to survey the damage but then drove off.

Charges are pending, police say.
