Men from Hamilton and Stoney Creek killed in three-car collision

Two 21-year-old Hamilton-area men were killed in a three-car collision just outside of Smithville, Thursday when a Mazda lost control, sideswiping a 2013 Ford F150 that then crashed head on with a Honda Civic carrying the men. Police are investigating.

A Hamilton man and a Stoney Creek man were killed after a three-car collision near the intersection of Regional Road 20 and Twenty Mile Road just outside of Smithville.

At 11:48 a.m. on Thursday, a 20-year old woman driving South on Regional Road 20 reportedly lost control of her car, crossed the center line and sideswiped a Northbound 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck driven by a 57-year-old man.

After being hit, the large truck then went over the center line hitting a Southbound 2001 Honda Civic head on. The 21-year-old Stoney Creek driver of the Civic was pronounced dead at the scene. The 21-year-old Hamilton passenger was transported to Hamilton Health Sciences, where he later died.

The 67-year-old man riding in the Ford was also transported to hospital with serious injuries. The woman who lost control of her Mazda had no injuries.
