Holiday Message from Mayor Bob Bratina

I was recently asked what gift or message I would have as Mayor for residents. My wish for residents is of course a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year. I would also wish that Hamiltonians understand how great the city is in which they live. The progress we have made in the past two years has been exceptional to the point that we are the envy of many cities across Canada. Hamilton is once again an exciting place to live, and to plan a future.

Of course there is always something to complain about and many of our residents are struggling with hardships of many kinds including finance, health, and family issues. As Mayor I am proud to say that when needs are identified we go to work to help find solutions, and so in Hamilton there is always hope that better days lie ahead.

As we reflect on the year past, we also think of loved ones lost, and like every year time has taken many of our beloved friends and great contributors to their community. Our year end celebration is always bitter-sweet because of this. However, you celebrate the season, on behalf of the hard-working staff in my office, and the Ward Councillors as well, let me say thank you to all who have brought positive acts, sentiments, and feelings forward that have made Hamilton better. We have so much to be proud of as Hamiltonians. If you can, please join me New Year’s Day at 1:00 p.m. at City Hall to welcome in the New Year!
