Hamilton police are still searching for a man who pulled a knife on someone while trying to break into a vehicle.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 17, a man saw someone trying to break into his vehicle on Fairholt Street. He grabbed the suspect to try to stop him. The two struggled and fell to the ground, Hamilton police say.

The victim called out for his family to call the police. A neighbour heard the commotion and came to help the victim, seeing that the suspect had a knife. He cautioned the victim, who backed away as the suspect held a knife on him and the neighbour, police say.

The suspect then rode away on his bicycle. He was gone by the time police arrived.
