A knife-wielding thief robbed a man in the washroom of an east-end shopping mall, according to Hamilton police.

On Tuesday around 4 p.m., an assailant punched a man and subsequently stole cash from the 41-year-old victim in a washroom at Eastgate Square. The suspect then fled the area, leaving through the mall's Queenston Road doors and clearing the plaza before police arrived.

The victim who, police say, didn't know his attacker, was not injured.

The suspect is described as male, white, 5'9, 200 lbs., wearing a black jackets with the word "JETS" across the back.
