Police have arrested a Mississauga man in an Aug. 31 assault on a 68-year-old woman outside an east Hamilton grocery store.

The male driver became frustrated after a female driver took her time turning at the corner of Barton Street East and Centennial Parkway, said police spokesperson Debbie McGreal-Dinning. He began honking at the female driver and followed into the parking lot of a nearby supermarket.

The man got out of his car and began yelling at the woman about her driving habits. Then, McGreal-Dinning said, he punched the female driver in the face before driving off.

"It's a road rage-type situation," McGreal-Dinning said.

The 68-year-old victim was not seriously injured.

On Thursday, after a short investigation, police arrested and charged a 60-year-old Mississauga man in the assault.

He was released on a promise to appear in court.
