A Dundas man has been arrested for backing his car into a man in a wheelchair in a fit of rage.

Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, a group of men got into a shouting match with a man they didn't know in the area of Augusta Street and Haymarket Street.

The man got into his vehicle, which had been parked nearby, and intentionally backed up towards the men — one of whom was in a wheelchair, police say.

The car made "minor contact" with the victim's wheelchair, but the 27-year-old man wasn't injured, police say.

The man then drove off aggressively. Police were called and the driver was found as he arrived home.

A 24-year-old Dundas man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of an accident. He was held for a bail hearing.
