There’s one story that’s been plaguing daily news in the New Year, aside from the wicked winter weather. It’s the flu.

Since the beginning of this month, Alberta has reported 10 deaths related to the H1N1 flu strain, and another 300 in hospital.

In Hamilton, new data from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care shows flu levels are elevated this week, and could be soon reaching its peak.

But here’s the kicker: flu season still has a month to go and what we’re seeing in Western Canada is expected to move east.

Flu shots are still available, but they take about two weeks to kick in.
