Has Hamilton benefited from amalgamation? On Wednesday afternoon, a municipal politics expert will visit the city to help answer that question.

Prof. Tim Cobban from Western University will present his paper on amalgamation in Ontario at the MacNab room at the Sheraton at 3 p.m. Mayor Bob Bratina invited Cobban and is hosting the event.

His research has focused on the financial impact amalgamation has had on Ontario municipalities, which includes Hamilton.

Cobban researches local government, policy making and economic development.

CBC Hamilton's @SamCraggsCBC will be at the event and providing live Twitter updates.
