Strong winds will continue on Saturday for Hamilton and much of southern Ontario, with gusts of 60 to 70 km/h in most areas.

A special weather statement issued by Environment Canada on Friday was maintained on Saturday, due to a deep low pressure system over northeastern Ontario and a high-pressure area over southeastern U.S.

In some exposed areas near the shorelines of the Great Lakes, winds could gust up to 80 km/h.

Strong winds will cause difficult driving conditions, especially for drivers on highways, Environment Canada says.

The stiff winds will slowly diminish Saturday evening as the low pressure area weakens, Environment Canada forecasts.
